Chapter Eight

Oh, gods help her! Gwen put her hand on the wall to her left, steadying herself and taking a deep breath. Her legs shook. Hell, her whole body shook. What the heck had just happened in there?

She’d been in control. Liking the game. Enjoying taking the initiative and shocking the shit out of Cade. And it had all been so good. So very, very good. But then Jay had gone down on her, and Cade had done that. Spanked her. Hard enough to sting and not truly hurt, but she’d never experienced it before. And the way he’d done it… No discussing it. No safe words. No real pain but very real control.

Shit, it had messed with her head. It turned her on so much, she’d come like crazy. But it also scared her because it hadn’t been some sort of game. It hadn’t been like the time a casual hookup of hers had tied her up and fed her different foods while she’d been blindfolded and then spanked her with her hairbrush.

This had been somehow raw. Real. He’d done it because he knew, deep down, it would make her come. He didn’t have to ask her. Cade knew. And the fact flat out terrified her.

Add in the second fact that the two men had turned her on more than she’d ever been in her entire life put together, and Gwen found herself in deep trouble. In over her head and not sure where to turn. She could hardly talk to her mum about this. They were close, but come on.

On unsteady legs, she walked toward…shit, she didn’t even know where she was sleeping. As if by magic, a male appeared and gave a slight bow.

“Would you like me to show you to your room?”

Yes, she would. She needed a shower and some time and space to process this turn of events.

The next afternoon found Gwen still holed up in her room, hiding away.

She’d eaten with the guys the previous evening but taken care to sit near her mum and as far away from them as she could. Then they’d all watched a movie. She couldn’t retell the plot if her life depended on it because, all the way through it, she’d been hyperaware of Cade and Jay. Of their strong bodies, handsome faces, and gorgeous scents.

Like a chocaholic surrounded by Belgian chocolate delicacies and not able to touch them, she’d only been able to think about the two males in the room with them. At times, she literally sat on her hands to stop from reaching out to touch one of them. And they’d seemed so damned relaxed and unbothered by her presence.

Today, she’d avoided them altogether as best she could. After a morning of reading, she’d showered, washed her hair, and left it to dry in the breeze from the open windows as she wrapped herself in a warm nightgown.

Lara came to see her, and they chatted for a while. Her mother seemed as distracted as Gwen, and she hated the new distance between them.
